چکیده

Abstract Background Whether vastus medialis obliquus atrophy exists in patients with patellofemoral pain syndrome and whether the amount of differs between lateralis muscles remain unknown. Materials From June 2016 to March 2019, 61 were retrospectively included study group, an age-, sex-, body mass index-matched cohort normal knees was randomly selected as control group. All enrolled subjects had undergone CT scans supine position. The cross-sectional areas muscle sections 0, 5, 10, 15, 20 mm above upper pole patella measured, obliquus/vastus area ratio evaluated. Results In that significantly smaller than respective group ( P < 0.05). at (the section 0 patella) corresponding No significant difference noted two groups > Conclusion syndrome, existed 0–20 patella, compared controls, more evident patella. These findings support rationale for use general quadriceps exercise combined strengthening part rehabilitation programme syndrome.

Electromyographic activity of vastus medialis obliquus and vastus lateralis muscles during functional activities in subjects with patellofemoral pain syndrome

Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the amplitude and onset of electrical activation of the vastus medialis obliquus (VMO), vastus lateralis longus (VLL) and vastus lateralis obliquus (VLO) during functional activities in individuals with patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS). Methods: Twenty women participated in the study: ten in a control group and ten in the group with PFPS. ...

Patellar tilt correlates with vastus lateralis: vastus medialis activation ratio in maltracking patellofemoral pain patients.

Patellofemoral (PF) pain is a common ailment of the lower extremity. A theorized cause for pain is patellar maltracking due to vasti muscle activation imbalance, represented as large vastus lateralis:vastus medialis (VL:VM) activation ratios. However, evidence relating vasti muscle activation imbalance to patellar maltracking is limited. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relation...

Background & Aims: This study was performed to compare the effects of open and closed chain terminal knee extension exercises on onset latency of vastus medialis obliques (VMO) and vastus lateralis (VL), pain and function in subjects diagnosed with patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS). Methods: In a pretest and posttest 5-week intervention study, 26 subjects diagnosed with PFPS and 13 healthy su...
